I am a licensed clinical psychologist with 25 years of experience. From 1985 until 2000, the majority of my clinical work was with children, adolescents and families. I worked primarily with youth in the county mental health system of El Dorado County and San Mateo County, and I worked on the youth and family team of Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa. During the decade of the 1990s, my caseload expanded to include a lot of adults as well as children and families. For the last 13 years, I have worked exclusively in private practice. For the last decade, I have worked with more adults than with children. I strive to stay current with the research about all psychiatric conditions for all ages.

I am originally from western Montana. Even though I have lived in the Oakland/Berkeley area for several decades, I think of myself as a Montanan. I graduated from Princeton University in 1984 with a Ph.D. in experimental Social Psychology. I immediately started the process of specialization in Clinical Psychology. I am the mother of two children. I have a 20 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. I have been a single mother for most of my children’s lives.

In 2009, I realized that I was burned out from my work as a Clinical Psychologist. In order to address that burn-out, I spent 1 ½ year studying at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. It was a wonderful way to recharge my batteries as a psychologist. I am now able to work in private practice with a fresh and optimistic attitude toward each and every client.
